Situation
Ro-Band is a world-class manufacturer of precision machined components and assemblies for various industries. The two owners of Ro-Band were actively involved in the operations of the business and looking to pursue retirement. Although the company had a solid middle management team, several key responsibilities needed to be transitioned.

Scope of Mertz’s role
Mertz brought the best potential purchasers to the table by targeting both private equity groups with complementary portfolio companies and synergistic contract manufacturers. While interest was strong among both groups, a corporate buyer ended up being the best fit and was able to offer the best overall value.

A key to highlighting the strength of the company was to involve management in the process. Mertz worked with management to develop a compelling management presentation, giving potential buyers confidence in the team’s ability to help take the company to the next level.
